EBA Hotfix 4.2.1.2 of ITS Validation Rules (26/06/2026)

The European Banking Authority (EBA) issued Hotfix 4.2.1.2 with a revised list and taxonomy package of validation rules (26/06/2026). Included in its Implementing Technical Standards (ITS) on supervisory reporting, highlighting those which have been deactivated for incorrectness or triggering IT problems.
The validation rules are an integral part of the EBA technical package covering the reporting requirements. These components are required from EBA 4.0 for each deactivation exercise to ensure consistent deactivation of rules in both the taxonomy and the DPM. These validation rules are updated:
- With each release of a new technical package.
- Around two months before the first reference date of a framework release for corrections.
- As part of a ‘small validation rules package’, published every quarter for updates.
The validation rules are split in two depending on the Reporting Framework to which they apply:
- From EBA 4.0: Validation rules applying to framework releases after and including Reporting Framework 4.0.
- Up to EBA 3.5: Validation rules applying to framework releases up to and including Reporting Framework 3.5.
Validation rule packages may include deactivations, reactivations, and changes to the severity status of validation rules. These packages are published on a quarterly basis, roughly 20 days before the reference date at the end of each quarter, usually around 10 March, 10 June, 10 September, and 10 December. They only impact validation rules from Reporting Framework 3.0 onwards and from EBA Reporting Framework 4.0, each deactivation exercise requires a validation rules package in order to deactivate rules in the taxonomy in a consistent manner.
